I've been bad about blogging recently. For the first two weeks it was due to writer's block, but in the last week or so we've had a problem with our Internet connection at our house.

storm clouds and the sky in transition
I first noticed the dark clouds as I was walking from a restaurant on Park Street to the Washington Hotel Coffee Room on Lakeside Street. The clouds were a deep grey-blue-black and I was glad they weren't over me. I got a good view of them as I walked along South Shore Drive at the bottom of Monona Bay, and I could feel it. Change was in the air.
a morning walk in the fog
This morning I woke up to find that relatively thick fog had enshrouded my neighborhood. I decided to forgo making breakfast in favor of buying it at work, and go for a walk around the neighborhood to take in the newly eerie scenery.
listen, the snow is falling, part 2
After two weeks of enjoying weather in the 50's and 60's, a winter storm blew through and dumped a few inches of snow on south central Wisconsin.
observations during the tail end of cold season
As a general rule, I haven't thought about or worried much about colds or getting sick. I have a pretty strong immune system, and tend not to get many colds. But it's been interesting to observe other people dealing with colds or the possibility of colds
Christmas revisited
Now I am in a faith that has its own religious holidays, and Christmas isn't one of them. We don't have anything that is similar that occurs around the same time of year. We celebrate the Birth of the Bab on 20 October and the Birth of Baha'u'llah on 12 November, and we have a time for gift giving during Ayyam-i-ha, which runs from 26 February to 1 March, but that's not considered a holiday.
So then, where does Christmas belong in my heart?
the last commuter before Christmas
Christmas Eve is one of those in-between days that people haven't quite figured out what to do with. Is it a holiday or not, or is it maybe a "half-day?" For me, it was a regular workday. Which didn't really bother me.
listen, the snow is falling
I walked outside my old co-op house at about 7 p.m. tonight and was delighted to see cascades of snowflakes falling from the sky. The streetlamps lighting up downtown Madison revealed night air filled with little moving white dots that felt as alive as they were quiet. They were sticking to the ground and making lawns, cars, and rooftops white, but not really accumulating much beyond that.
NaBloPoMo = sodium blow-pops in missouri?
That's what NaBloPoMo stands for, right? Na is the chemical symbol for sodium, BloPo has to stand for Blow-Pops, and Mo is the abbreviation for Missouri. Sodium blow-pops in Missouri? Well, no.

Tomorrow is the big moving day.
Up until today, I've been laser-beam focused in my preparation for this move. I got a lot done quickly, and I think I'm more organized with this move than ever before. But today is harder. I took off from work today to make final preparations and I must admit that it's a bit harder now than it has been to stay focused.
