There is much talk of a new Cold War. But a good diplomat must understand Russia’s history, their fears, and their national interests.
my calendar reform effort: the Earth Epic Calendar
I have a geek fascination with calendars and I cannot lie. So I decided to put forward my own modest proposal for calendar reform.
Halloween snow…must white be a fall color?
Having lived in Wisconsin for over a decade and a half, October snowflakes aren’t unusual or particularly strange. But Halloween snow that accumulates and stays for a while? That has felt weird. This past week, several snowfalls brought eight inches of snow accumulation, switching us from a feeling of fall to winter overnight.
to define my spirituality
Five years ago, I, for the first time, wrote in my blog that I no longer identified with any specific religion. It wasn’t the first time I’d described my spirituality in this way. I felt that way pretty much all throughout my college years, and a brief period of time in 1996. And this has also been true since that blog post in 2014. But I have gradually felt the need more and more to define my spirituality. Even if it’s not associated with a specific religion. I am going to go out on a limb and say something radical. When you think seriously about this, you’ll realize that it is true: The time we live in right now is the most spiritually significant time in tens of thousands of years. It is more significant than during the time of Christ, Mohammed, Moses, Baha’u’llah, the Buddha, and others prophets revered throughout the ages.
Facebook is censoring The Different Drummer Soundtrack
I must have hit a nerve with the Establishment. It seems that a Facebook bot is trying to censor The Different Drummer Soundtrack now. I have asked for a review of their decision. I have not heard from them as of yet.
media attacks against Tulsi prove her allegations of journalistic bias
It seems the biggest media companies aren’t even trying to hide their bias any more. Presidential candidate and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard announced the week before last that she was considering boycotting the fourth Democratic debate in Ohio. She felt and still feels that the Democratic National Committee in partnership with corporate media organizations have been trying to rig the primaries before a single vote would be cast. And while she ultimately participated in the debate, the subsequent media attacks against Tulsi, and the way bias played out in the debate proved that she was right.
Tulsi Gabbard’s positions on 9/11: does she actually get it?
Congresswoman and Presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) has been willing to say what very few politicians have said about the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Tulsi Gabbard's positions on 9/11 mostly match what I've been saying for years. But I have some real questions about the implications of what she's saying. Hopefully, she'll clarify her position as her campaign continues.
the Blogthings website still exists? is it still 2005?
Blogthings was a creature of the early blogging years. A time when blogging was starting to get popular and before Facebook began to dominate. As a customer-minded business dedicating to meeting the needs of its customers, they saw a need bloggers had. The need for interesting content. Every Emily, Dylan, Tiffany, Ryan, Amanda, and multiples of twenty-seven Jennifers were jumping in on the blogging bandwagon. This was cool, until you had to, you know, write interesting content. Which not many were skilled at.
the DNC is rigging the primaries. again.
The DNC is rigging the primaries for the 2020 Presidential election. Their methods are a bit more sophisticated than 2016. So far, they’ve managed to exclude Presidential candidates Mike Gravel and Tulsi Gabbard from the official debates. With nearly a year to go before Democratic National Convention, it remains to be seen how the DNC will winnow the field further. But the DNC has never acknowledged or apologized to its base or the public for its heavy-handed manipulation tactics during the 2016 election, and as such, we have every reason to believe that history will repeat itself.
President Trump’s Portland pronouncements is white supremacy proof in the pudding
President Trump’s Portland statements prove that there is little political difference between him and the KKK. He may as well don the white sheets and hood and burn a cross on the lawns of Portland residents. It’s become a cliché to label Trump a fascist, but we can’t afford fascism to take hold in this country.
