This is a band I’ve been listening to a lot of lately. La Luz is clearly heavily influenced by surf rock, yet what they come up with is unique enough to not quite fit in that category–some of it is even reminiscent of the soundtrack to the cult classic movie “Repo Man.” It’s tempting to compare this band with the Bangles, but La Luz in the 2010s and 20s hasn’t had to contend with the 80s pop machine that trivialized and nearly destroyed otherwise great all-women bands. They would be great to see live.
